Garmin Connect can't connect on Android Pie

Just upgraded OnePlus 6 to Android Pie. Uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Connect. (rebooted phone and watch several times) Trying to pair with Forerunner 235. I select my device have the watch in "Ready to Pair" and click "Search For Device". Garmin Connect finds the Forerunner 235, and the watch says "Connecting", and Garmin Connect says "Setting up device...", but I'm getting the "Connecting to device failed" message.

Anyone else having this issue? Just started today with Android 9
  • Bonjour,
J' ai exactement le même problème depuis la mise à jour android pie sur oneplus 6, avec ma fenix 5plus. J' ai eu beau désinstaller , redemarrer, réinstaller, et toujours le même problème
  • Syncing has been broken on my OnePlus 6 as after I upgraded to Android Pie as well. I tried removing the device (from Garmin Connect on the phone) and re-pairing it but now I can't pair it either. Bluetooth generally seems to be flaky as hell on Android, and doubly so with Garmin devices.

Same problem here (OnePlus 6 with Pie)

    Can't pair with Fenix 5!

After finding the device and starting the process, a message appears: "Pairing failed. Setup was not successful".

    Very disappointed.

I am having the same issue with Fenix3. Upgraded OnePlus6 to Pie yesterday. This morning my watches battery was empty. Did a full reload, and now it's almost empty again.

Something is fishy.. The logfile for the sync in Garmin App is not generating anything..
  • Same here with 935 on oneplus6.
uninstalled and reinstalled did not fix.

I think I have found the solution!

    Apart from reinstalling apps...

Go to Settings (OP6 Settings) > Bluetooh & device connection > Previously connected devices,
enter to Fenix 5 and FORGET the device.

Then go to Garmin Connect and try to link the device.

    This has worked for me.

    Bye.
