Garmin 3 step challenge

I've a vivofit 3 I'm automatically added to a step challenge. I like taking part in them however I walk and hike I don't run. On the step challenge there are runners why is this as its pretty obvious runners will win walkers everytime.

Not necessarily so. They might most of the time, but there are some prolific walkers out there and less than prolific runners.
