I can imagine that there’s a thread already started on this topic, but I’m new to this forum and do not know how to go about searching for it. Long story short, I own two Garmin devices, the vívoactive HR and the vivosmart hr+. I’ve been in contact with Garmin support via live chat and it is unclear still to me if I can wear one device for tracking steps and sleep and then use another for my activities and strength training. I wore my vívoactive HR two days ago and did my workouts and such. Then after syncing I shut down my vívoactive and powered up my vivosmart to wear the rest of the day and sleep. When I woke up the next day, no sleep was recorded but my steps seemed to have carried over into the mobile connect app. Is it possible to use my devices like I’ve described above? Was this a fluke that my steps were carried over?
Ok thank you for your reply. So basically I’m running into complications with figuring this ordeal out. Plus, my vivosmart is now showing yesterday’s date. I had it shut down all night and turned it on to wear before heading out. I can’t seem to figure out how to get it to show the correct date. I’m assuming that I have to wait until tomorrow for my steps to sync with the Garmin Connect app?
Meld. I wear two Garmin watches, including the VS HR+. The trick is that only one watch should be on. Sync the watch you want to take off. Then put it to sleep. Wake the other watch, walk 50 steps, and sync the 2nd watch. Never have both not sleeping at the same time. As for sleep with 2 watches, well that is a problem that I have not cured. Generally the sleep data is correct in the morning. If I care what the value is, I write it down. Sometimes during the day the number goes bizarre. Some days the sleep value can be more than 24 hours. As long as you are willing to trust the sleep value that you see around 8am, and you are willing to be happy with say 5 days of data out of a week, you can get mostly good sleep data despite using two watches. And, of course, don't change watches within about an hour of when you sleep and when you wake.
Meld, I just saw your second issue. Waiting for tomorrow to sync is a horrible idea. You can lose steps at the midnight transition. I always sync out my good data before midnight. Yes, I'll get a few more steps that evening to sync the next day, but I don't allow thousands of steps to risk going past midnight. Sometimes the unsynced steps just vanish. Don't risk losing important data. Sync before midnight.
