Android Pie problem

Mtpixel 2xl moved to Pie this morning. My morning swim is on my watch (Fenix 5s) but does not sync to the phone. Has worked fine for months, so I suspect a problem with Android Pie and Connect. I restarted both devices and get no errors, but no sync.

Correcting a typo. My Pixel 3 XL is running Android v9.

Hi, I had the same problem with my Oneplus 6.

The theme is that Android Pie brings different improvements to optimize the operation of the battery, these improvements minimize the operation of the App in the background.

    I have worked the following:

    1.- Forget the Garmin SMARTWACTH
2.- Go to Settings OnePlus 6, specifically to applications and notifications,.... go give all permissions to the app Garmin Conect, Inluso you have to allow this app to make changes to the system.
3.- In Garmin Conect, re-link the smartwatch.

After this it works without problem.

Greetings, I hope I have helped you all.

    Pablo.-

This is the key, and worked for me after installing Pie! Thanks pablo!

Actually, you don't need to re-link the smartwatch in Garmin Connect.

This worked for me with my FR465M and Nokia 7 Plus with latest Android 9.0 Pie update:

    1) On the smartphone, go to Settings => Connected devices => Previously connected devices => Forget the Forerunner device.
    2) On the Forerunner, go to Settings => Phone => Pair Phone.
    3) On the smartphone, go to Settings => Connected devices => Pair new device.
    5) Android will now ask a pin code. The Forerunner shows a 6 digit pin code. Enter the code on your smartphone.

Once the device is connected in Android, open Garmin Connect and it will recognize your device again.

This did it for me. I think the step I was missing is I needed to initiate the pairing process from the watch not the phone..

I have the same problem, but none of the fixes suggested here worked.
I reinstalled the app and forget the device several times. I gave the app all the rights possible. I iniated the BT pairing from the phone, my garmin device and the app. No success.
I updated my Oneplus 5 to Android pie and i have VivoFit3.
The pairing seems to be ok in the start. Phone asks me for the PIN code and approves it. The watch has the pairing icon on it. But BT icon on my phone disappears after the pairing is done.
I can see the device in the previously connected devices list but when i open it it does not connect anymore.
So to me it seems that the BT connection pairing process is not finalized or then the connection cannot be established again after pairing.
  • Received my Android 9 Update yesterday. Huawei Honor 10
It all worked on 8, after doing the known things like disable power saving mode and prevent the app from closing.
But the last option from the task manager disappeared (I thought).

I had to enter the tasks and swipe the app downwards. Then it got locked again and the synch + notifications work all the time!
Not quite intuitive, but now it´s fine :)

I received during Christmas update to Android 9.0 Pie (Oneplus 5T) and the Garmin Connect app does not recognize my vivoactive3 anymore. I've tried all the tricks suggested here; removing the watch from my phone's Bluetooth devices, trying pairing from the app, gave all the permissions to the app, re-installed the app etc. Nothing works. Really upset about this.

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone !

I've got some issues with Android Pie and my Fenix 3 watch
First I was unable to get the pairing to work but I finnaly manage to get it working.
But now the Fenix 3 keeps connect / disconnect all the time to my phone via Bluetooth and therefor fenix battery is going down quickly.

Garmin staff : is there any patch / issue is progress which as been log yet ?
    cheers

  • fboulange if you want your issue logged, please call Garmin support.
