How do you know that Garmin AREN'T taking it seriously?

Yes - more threads will cause Garmin to drop everything and concentrate 100% on fixing Livetrack? I am pretty sure they have got the gist that Livetrack is broken from the number of support calls they have received.

What did people do in the days BEFORE Livetrack?
  • How long will Garmin take to fix this? You know they never fix the Garmin Index Scale?

Garmin need to be pro active in answering questions.

Judging by the amount of questions and no or very few answers, Garmin is not doing anything here.

Quite honestly, I don't know if they are taking it seriously or not because they haven't provided any meaningful communication about the issue. the couple of responses in these forums of "we are aware of the issue and working on it" aren't good enough for me because there hasn't been any followup beyond that, and my 2 open tickets haven't prompted anyone to acknowledge this as a known issue. What is the priority? Is this a global issue or is it isolated to specific regions / Garmin devices / phones? Is there a beta version that willing customers can help test?

I'm guessing your question about what people did before live track was meant to express your opinion about the usefulness of the feature, and I respect that opinion. But please respect mine. I came to the Garmin ecosystem *specifically* for Live track, I don't care too much about miles or performance data or KOM's.
Livetrack gives my wife some peace of mind while I'm commuting, without that feature my Garmin is useless for my needs. Maybe I'm in the minority here, maybe I picked the wrong ecosystem to join for my needs. At this point I'm looking at Wahoo to see how their Livetrack works and how they handle support and communication.

There other solutions. One is cerberusapp that you put in your phone for tracking ant-thief.

Yes I like Live track. I also use Garmin Index Scale. I am all in the Garmin ecosystem.

Wish they do a better job of fixing BUGS! Really!
  • Please be reassured that LiveTrack is working perfectly for me. Perhaps you have a local issue. Fenix 5, Android.
  • Garmin Support responded to my ticket today acknowledging this as a problem and that the have a team working to resolve it "as fast as possible". I'm not sure if that means days, weeks or months, but I asked.

TrippyZ - Thanks for letting me know, I was specifically worried about you.

We have two Edge devices in our house. With one, Livetrack works ok. With the other, Livetrack always shows the ride taking place in the ocean off the west coast of Africa, though when the rides are uploaded to Garmin Connect they show the route actually ridden. A 50% failure rate.

My LiveTrack works on my S8 phone and the email link works with no blue ocean.

My wife LiveTrack Note 5 is in the middle of the blue ocean too and I cant see her. I cant start her LiveTrack on her phone.

    50% failure is not acceptable.

Temporary work around is install 4.8 on the Android phone and it is working fine.
  • Unfortunately the "Downgrade" didn't work for me, even tried going to 4.7 still the same behavior. (OnePlus 3T / Android 8.0 for the record)

Also, its a 50% failure rate depending n your perspective, I'd settle for that (with the implication that I could simply try again and it would work). For me, its a 100% failure rate.
  • I was able to start a live track today, I'm still on 4.7. Maybe a reboot or 2 helped, I'm not sure why it worked this time other than being on 4.7, we'll see what happens next ride.
