When I tried to start Livetrack this morning, I got this error. Tried to start it several times over the course of a four hour ride, with the same error each time. I had a good 4G data connection on each occasion I tried, and when I ended the ride GCM uploaded it immediately without any problem, so obviously no problem with connection between phone and GPS or to the Internet. Livetrack worked fine the last time I used it a couple of weeks ago. GPS is an Edge 1030 with FW 4.0 and phone is a Pixel 2 with latest Android and GCM 4.6.4, and I'm just trying to send the invite to an email recipient.
  • Other people have the same problem with their Edge 1030, and I have the same problem with my Forerunner 920XT. It's not just you.
  • Same problem here since a few days ago.
It's very annoying, that's why I bought a Garmin device for and it's not the first time Garmin brokes it. :/
  • I was having the same problem with starting a live track with my Vivoactive 3 and my Oregon 700. A reinstall of GCM was the solution (so far) for me.
  • Uninstall / reinstall of GCM solved the problem for me too.
My guess is that it has something to do with permissions for the GCM app in Android, but since I didn't check this prior to reinstalling I can't confirm it.
GCM has now got access to Calendar, Contacts, Position and Phone.

Worked for me as well. Tried all permission settings first though without any luck.

I updated the permissions for the app and it was now able to send out the live tracking email. Galaxy S9+

    Thanks,

Garmin Edge 810; Updated with latest firmware (6.3) and GCM 3.16.1 (android 4.2 = last compatibility ) So this version runs for more than a year without livetrack problems. Since one month livetrack does not work anymore (cannot send invites). reinstall GCM, totally reset/reinstall Android, reboots and reset. Tried previous versions and create a new account on Garmin. Still no luck. But if it ran for more than a year and suddenly stops this might be just some server problem (?) and not device related.
Anyone knows how invites are send? Just e-mails from within GCM and default mailserver? Or conctact Garmin servers first?
I read a thread where someone noticed that not all e-mail addresses are working (some do, some don't). Seems like some interference from garmin-servers.

Ok installed GCM on another phone. Livetrack gave no problems. After this Livetrack works on my phone again as well.

This problem is back again. Happened earlier today when I went for a ride and attempted to start Livetrack. Has been working ok for the last couple of weeks.

I had this issue on the Edge 810. Contacted Garmin Support but all they could suggest was reinstalling the app or trying it out on another phone (even though I had already told them I had tried both, in my original email). Then I began to wonder was it a problem with my email. I had previously reset my phone due to a battery consumption issue and had neglected to set up my email account again as I usually do my emails from laptop. Anyway, I set up my email account on the phone and everything's hunky dory once more.
