Livetrack "Distance"

In a Livetrack, which I usually see after the event (family members watch it live), there is Total Distance, and then there is Distance. Total Distance, at least at the end of the run, seems correct. e.g. in the attached I jogged 8km. But there's always a different measure under a heading Distance. In the attached, 6.08km. I cannot work out what this is; cannot see any aspect of my run that this could be measuring. Can anyone help me out?

  • I've been noticing the same thing and I don't have a clue what it means. And I am also not sure what my husband is seeing for my distance and location at any given time either since I don't see it until I'm done with my run. I am going to stop mid run next time and take a look at the email to see if the distance he is seeing is the same as what I have on my watch.

Do you use LiveTrack autostart or start the live tracking manually?

I get the same issue which I believe is due to a problem with autostart.

With the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile, autostart does not start at the beginning of the activity as it should - it kicks in at random times, usually within 5 minutes of the activity starting. The two different distances you see on the live track data appear to be 1) the full activity distance and 2) the distance from the point autostart actually started.
  • I use AutoStart and have had a separately reported problem that phone and watch can disconnect randomly so possibly your explanation is right in that phone disconnects just prior to me starting the run and then reconnects later and starts the LiveTrack ..
