Steps not syncing to garmin connect

I wear a vivoactive as a day to day watch and swap it out for 920xt for workouts. Both are connected to my account and sync daily and regularly. For steps, it's always uploaded and combined my step counts from both watches automatically. The last two days it's only syncing steps from one or the other. Yesterday only my vivoactive would sync steps. My 920xt workout showed up but the steps wouldn't load to my step count. I unpaired and repaired the device and still nothing. Today my 920xt steps are showing up on my connect account but not my VA steps. I again unpaired and repaired it but that didn't work again. How can I get my account to sync both sets of steps again? It's never been an issue until a couple if days ago so it's kind of frustrating.
