Verizon Messages +

I'm on the latest Android version 4.2.2 and when I get a text using Verizon Messages + all I get is a "messages +" notification on my phone. Everything seems to work OK using the stock messaging app on my phone. I prefer to use the Verizon Messages + app. Has anyone found a way to get it to work?

Downloaded GCM 4.5 today and Messages + still isn't working. It was working fine back in December. Is there anyone using Verizon Messages + successfully?
