Previous BT headset now fails to work since Garmin Connect

Hi There;

pre-Garmin;
--I have a HTC One M8 phone - specs state; Bluetooth[SUP]®[/SUP] 4.0 with aptXTm enabled. Android version 6.0
--I have Sena SHM10R bluetooth headset (for motorcycle helmets) - specs state; Headset Profile (HSP), A2DP, Bluetooth 3.0.

These worked flawlessly together - I could play / pause / track forward / backward music with the last opened Music player app with no issues. I was using PowerAmp music app. This worked for years no issues.

post-Garmin;
--I have the above, also now have a Fenix 5 Sapphire, software 7.60
--Garmin Connect app version 4.2.2

Problems;
--Now the music controls from the Fenix and Sena headset do not work very well. The Fenix has about a 60% success rate in controlling the music playing (pause, play, forward, volume etc), and regularly has the wrong music data on the screen.
--The Sena is completely unusable now - the music controls only respond around 5% of the time - and the remaining time they either don't work, or work with around a 4-5 minute delay! ie; push pause and it pauses several minutes later. What's interesting is the music is still current to the Sena headset; i.e; whats playing on the phone screen is current in the headset, but the actual controls do not respond.
--When using the Music app (and others), the actual app can now hang/freeze momentarily when you push a button (play/pause etc), as if the App is waiting for a response from somewhere else (Garmin Connect I highly suspect).
--I have tried un-installing and re-installing both Garmin Connect, PowerAmp music app without success. I have tried other music/media app's with the same problem. I have tried all of the above with the Fenix in range and out of range, to test if it were trying to verify with the Fenix first - this made zero difference.

I highly suspect the Music App is receiving the commands, and hanging and waiting for a response from Garmin Connect to continue processing. This has been extremely disappointing since purchasing a very expensive Fenix 5 Sapphire, with the intended feature of using the music controls as a main selling point. Not only do they not work correctly, it has disabled another piece of hardware that was otherwise perfectly fine.

I would very much appreciate if Garmin could take a serious look into this problem and provide direct feedback as to why this is happening, and a working solution.

If anyone else has similar experiences can you please comment to help diagnose?

Thanks for your time.
