Latest update huge sync issues!!!

The latest Android Garmin Connect update (4.2) rendered my Watch (Forerunner 735XT)/Phone (Xperia X Compact, Android 7.1.1) useless! Continuous sync failures, I was even not able to do settings like Watch face, etc. Neither Smart Notifications worked!!!
Garmin made a huge mistake by releasing this update 5 days ago. I deleted this app, and went back to the previous version one step, 4.1.11 (get the apk from a reliable source!). EVERYTHING works fine again! So if you have such issue: complain to Garmin (I will do!), and revert back to an older Garmin Connect version...

Garmin.. huh... Any news no that crap?
Is that dificult to revert to previous version and fix before update? What's your IQ team ? Any automated tests? Can't you hire profesionals to get the job done?
    ????
??Still waiting, looking at my empty calendar inside Garmin Connect... :(
  • I have been experiencing sync issues with a Forerunner 735XT and Moto Z Force Droid Edition. Even after upgrading Connect to 4.2.2, my activity doesn’t sync and I very rarely receive smart notifications. Anytime I go into the Smart Notification settings, they are set differently than I had them last. The battery life of my watch seems to have been impacted as well since these issues began, as I have been having to charge more. Around this forum, I've seen suggestions of going back to Connect 4.1.11, so I'm trying it out.

I downloaded the ADK via apkmirror.com and copied it to the Internal Storage of my phone. For what it’s worth, I scanned it with Norton Mobile and it was marked as Safe.

    Here was my procedure:
    1. Go to the Google Play Store and turn off Auto-update for Garmin Connect
    2. Uninstall Garmin Connect
    3. Clear the cache. On Android 7.1.1, do the following:
    - Settings
    - Storage
    - Internal Shared Storage
    - Cached data
    - OK
    4. Power off the phone
    5. Power on the phone
    6. Settings
    - Security
    - Turn on “Unknown Sources”
    - OK
    7. Install Garmin Connect 4.1.11 APK file
    8. Turn “Unknown Sources” back off
    9. Go into Bluetooth settings, Forget the Forerunner 735XT
    10. Launch Garmin Connect, sign in, pair watch.

A sync occurred, but failed. My step data from today ended up in Connect. I walked a bit, tried to sync again. It made progress, but then failed. However, my steps updated in Connect again. I power-cycled my phone and watch. Tried another sync. Same result. I guess I will stick with Connect 4.1.11 for awhile and see how it goes. This is becoming very frustrating.

    ---***UPDATE end of day 2/1/2018***---
Smart notifications worked as intended throughout the day. I ran on the treadmill after work. The activity synced immediately and reported as a successful transfer. For day one back on Garmin Connect 4.1.11, I am much happier than with 4.2.2.

Everything is still working well. I went on two runs today. They synced without any problem. I'm staying with 4.1.11 for now.

I think I have finally managed to solve the sync problems I had with my Forerunner 235: The problem was that the Connect app V4.2.2 did no longer sync successfully, the error log showed that it made an attempt to do a SOFTWARE_UPDATE and there was an error SAVING FAILED. The watch's SW was V7.50, while the update tried to install V7.60.

Since I use Linux, I could not use Garmin Express (please Garmin, provide Linux versions as well!), so I installed it on my wife's Mac and updated the watch SW via cable. That worked, some settings got lost (language, watch face), but this could be fixed easily. The sync for several different activities worked fine so far.
  • I’ve spent a full day trying to rectify this situation, I cannot resolve it. My brand new 235 will not sync with either my iPhone or computer, it’s going back to amazon.
  • Latest version (4.3) worked for a day then stopped syncing, back to 4.1.11 it is....

  • Thanks for posting! I was wondering if 4.3 was worth it. I'll keep waiting. Everything is working great on 4.1.11

My Garmin 310XT hasn't synced since the evening of 13th Feb. I'm on version 4.50.0.0, logged out, logged in, disconnected and reconnected etc. etc. this is the latest in a long line of syncing issues and to be honest I'm finding the Garmin system absolutely useless! So Garmin, are you ever going to sort it out?

This is not working - it works for a very short while and then stops. Have reverted to 4.1.11. Have emailed Garmin Support twice but still don't seem to recognise the problem.

Finally, after a few emails, Garmin support have today confirmed that they know there is a problem and it is being worked on. I am staying on 4.1.11 but am at least now hopeful there might be a solution available in the future - hopefully not too far away.

I just bought a forerunner 235 this evening. After coming here and finding countless threads about connection issues, I'm thinking it was a mistake. I am on android. I have yet to successfully transfer any data, see a notification popup, install a watch face, or connect to the phone at all. Despite the fact the phone says it is connected with the device and have the bluetooth icon on the watch. I"ve tried app reinstall, phone reset, bluetooth reboot, phone reboot. It always says connected, but nothing seems to want to transfer.
  • FWIW... My Approach S60 is syncing, its Connect that seems to be the problem. It isn't processing any data. It shows the synced data but does not move it to the back end.
