Smart Notifications - Whatsapp and Email don't work, but calls and texts do

Hiya,

I received a forerunner Christmas and never been able to get Whatsapp or Email notifications. I do however get text and call notifications and all of my watch data gets synced to the phone ok.

In the connect app I have gone to Settings -> Smart Notifications and enabled All applications. My phone is a Moto G4 Plus and is running android 7.0

I've also tried re-paring and resetting the Forerunner itself. I have also re-installed the garmin connect app and cleared the connect apps cache.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
  • I've had similar issues since the latest Garmin Connect Mobile update. Initially I was getting notifications for everyting, so I turned off "All Applications" for Smart Notifications, and turned on only the apps I wanted to see on my Garmin 935. Now I don't get any Smart Notifications.
  • It seems to vary by device. On my F3, email, SMS, calls, and voicemail don't work, but several other apps like twitter and WhatsApp do work. It also disabled the vibration for notifications that do make it to the watch. You may want to roll back to GCM V4.1.9 if you can until they get this all sorted out.

I've tried GCM v4.1.9 but I still don't get whatsapp or facebook messages on my Forerunner 30 :-(

Is there an easy way to roll back to 4.1.9 other than getting the APK and installing it?
  • @JohnFenix: No, I don't think I've ever come across an Android app that has an “easy” way to roll back to some earlier version of the user's choice, and I don't think the operating system was ever designed or intended to accord the individual user that prerogative.
