Compatibility of Edge 1000 with Samsung Galaxy S8

Can anyone comment re compatibility of the Garmin Edge 1000 with the Samsung Galaxy S8 phone? I am having problems getting a bluetooth connection. I can see on the phone that pairing has been successful, but can't get a connection. The other weird, and maybe connected thing is that the Live Track menu item is missing from the Garmin Connect app I've installed on the phone. Has anyone else had these problems?

    My Garmin has quite simply stopped connecting via Bluetooth.

    I have tried three different phones, one of them a Samsung S8, i have paired and unpaired them, i have turned them off and on again, I have uninstalled Garmin Connect, and reinstalled it, all several times on all devices.

    All of the phone "see" the Garmin, and each other, and other Bluetooth devices. They connect quite happily to each other and other Bluetooth devices. They try to pair with the Garmin but the Garmin just sits there on the "Waiting to connect" screen and does nothing.

    the phones say they are connected but when Garmin Connect is is opened it says that the device is not paired.

    I have tried to contact Garmin directly about this but all they did was to send me the instructions on how to pair the device, I've already tried that you moroons, that's why i emailed you!

    My Garmin is now 23 months old, and the Bluetooth issues started about 3 months ago,

    Other than a complete factory reset, does anyone have any ideas?

    Exactly the same here. paired workes like a charm, but no connection to the app. Did reinstall, remove cache, remove bluetooth pairing a couple of times. each time pairing works directly, but app does not connect.

    I am having the exact same problem with my Edge 1000 and Galaxy s8. Dis anyone find a solution?
  • I have the same problem.  When I first got the garmin it paired normally and connected.  That was two years ago. For over a year now the garmin simply stopped connecting to my Samsung Galaxy 8 phone.

    Make sure to use the Garmin Connect App (not android Bluetooth settings) to pair with your Garmin with your phone. Follow these steps and video:

    • Remove all your Garmin devicse from from Garmin Connect App (Menu >> Garmin devices)
    • "Unpair" all Garmin device in android Bluetooth settings
    • Reboot your phone, restart the watch
    • On your Garmin device place into "pairing mode." Differs per device, but usually in Settings > Phone > Pair Phone to manually enter pairing mode.
    • Pair using Garmin Connect Mobile app
