Notifications no longer work after app upgrade

I'm not sure exactly which version broke it, but for about the last week and a half, smart notifications no longer work on my vivoactive hr. When I go to smart notifications, it says it needs notification access in Android, so I click settings. It takes me to the Android notification page, where Garmin connect already has access. I have tried to turn it off then on to no avail. I deleted all all settings, uninstalled, then reinstalled, still doesn't work. Everytime I go back to smart notifications it asks for permission. I'm guessing the app isn't detecting it has it. It has worked fine for the last 1.5 years until the new update came out. Phone is a pixel xl running Oreo. Anyone have any ideas? So frustrating.

Of course it just dawned on me I hadn't rebooted in a bit, a reboot of the phone fixed the issue.

I have the same issue. I also have the same phone and watch. All notifications stopped after the December 5 App update. I've uninstalled. reinstalled, reset watch to defaults, cleared all cache. A reboot didn't help.
  • Try disabling notification access for the Garmin Connect Mobile app, in the Android operating system settings, and then re-enabling it.
