Android pairing problem

Hi, so since a few days, my Forerunner 235 wouldn't sync anymore with my phone. This has happened before so I deleted the device from my devices on Garmin Connect and tried to pair it back as that usually works. Now it won't pair anymore. It gets so far as to give me the passkey, but before I can type in the passkey in my phone, the watch goes back to "Ready to Pair" and gives me a new passkey, and so forth. On my phone it says "Timed out while connecting to device" over and over in red and "couldn't connect to Forerunner 235" in grey every time the passkey disappears again.

New passkeys keep showing and disappearing and sometimes I'm fast enough to type it, but it just does the same thing.

I've restarted both Forerunner and phone countless times, turned Bluetooth on and off, all in every order I can think of. It just won't pair back up. I have no idea what to do and I can't find this particular problem anywhere on the internet... help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  • After the downgrade of an Android on 6.0 and finally pairing FR235 and Huawei P9 Lite few weeks ago it all worked fine until today. Again, no connection, timed out while pairing... I have tried everything, even the tip from the link that lucky510 gave, but still nothing. Should I update to Android 7 or something?? It's really from Garmin to do this.

    Hi branko,

In my case downgrade to Android 6.0 worked only one week, i guess. So I decided upgrade back to 7.0 and hoping they find some solution. Than I found that link, and now I have GPS location turned off. I hope it is only temporary solution.
  • Has anyone found a fix yet guys?
    its so frustrating.

The GC upgrade 4.1.7 fix the issue for me on my Honor 6X and fw 7.50 on my FR235

Just got the new version of connect on my phone, still no connection.
I wonder how long it takes to get a solution, should I buy a huawei phone and ship it to garmin developer?

No, I think you should buy a Garmin watch and send it to Huawei, the issue is from Huawei/Honor phones and Garmin try to fix it.
  • Hi all, I've also been having some issues regarding the above on my new Google Pixel 2 phone which is running Android 8.0. Forerunner 235 has software 7.50 on, disconnected from phone yesterday and now wont reconnect. I've tried forgetting the watch but it now wont reconnect again, reset watch and Bluetooth on both phone and watch but with no success ! Never had any issues with IPhone 6 previous to new Google Pixel 2, exactly the same issue as in the video in the thread

The fact that the problem is also on my wife's motorola moto G and on my friend's samsung A3 and, as reported one message after yours, on google pixel 2 tells another story.

You are right but 99% of complains are from Huawei/Honor owners...
Why dont we have another distribution of smartphone manufacturers ?

I think we all agree that the issue seems to affect honor/huawei owners, but let's also realize that no other device has any issue with those phones, only garmin's... for what has been raised here' of course.
it is a pairing issue, so both devices are concerned... therefore, it is undrstandable that it can take some time time to solve... but dayum ! 1 whole month ??! And no official commmunication by Garmin ? Not even a small reply on the forums ? How is this even possible ? I'd be curious about how iso9001 auditor would consider this case !
