The calories burn on my garmin do not match up with my fitness pal. My garmin says Ive burned 1,400 and my fitness pal only says 160. Why is that and which one is right?

On the surface it appears that you are looking at total calories on the Garmin, only the activity calories in fitness pal. I get that the Garmin calculates basal metabolism and adds the calories from that but I don't recall people who think that's a valued feature.

At the next level every device I have reports different calorie counts for the same activity. I think calories are only useful to compare activity to activity on the same device. Yes, fitness pal is software so it's technically not a "device" as such ...
