No incoming call / missed call smart notifications from Galaxy S8

I recently upgraded from a Galaxy S6 where notifications were working fine on Vivoactive and Edge 520. After upgrading, I can no longer get incoming phone alerts or missed call alerts on either device. The buttons for both of these are checked in the Smart Notification section of the connect app. Email and text notifications work fine. Anybody else's experience with this would be helpful

I have this same issue on my Fenix 3 HR. I have an LG G6 and notifications from Whatsapp seem to have stopped

So after 3 days, the S8 popped up a request that Garmin Connect was asking for permission to access my phone and contacts. Problem fixed. Not sure why this didn't occur right after installation.

You should go to setting of the Garmin Connect app on your mobile phone and give it permissions.

I went into the Garmin Connect app on my phone, Settings.=>App Permissions>Phone, Manage>Notifications>Allowed and that solved the problem.
