Can't sync the Vivosmart 3 with the E980 - Andriod 4.1.2

Dear all, we can't get to sync the Vivosmart 3 with the E980 - Andriod 4.1.2

Once we select to pair the Vivosmart we get a pop up saying that Connect needs to be updated even though the last version was just installed from the play store :(

Can anyone help please.

Some watch needs a higher version of garmin connect. I assume GC is not compatible with 4.1.4 or have you try to update via the playstore?
