Garmin Connect & MyfitnessPal

Does anyone know how accurate the calorie adjustment garmin sends to myfitnesspal is? I run three mile, get 350 calories but also, get an additional set of calories for the steps I got during the run. Is it counting extra calories it shouldn't?

Should I count the calories from that or delete them? Also, some days, I get an additional 600 calories at the end of the day.

What do you think?
  • I was hoping you'd get a reply as I have been wondering the same thing. I've had cases where I've had a lot of steps during a measured run (and received both active calories for activity as well as steps) when the remainder of the day has little activity so I know the step calories in Myfitnesspal is from the run. Seems like Myfitnesspal is showing duplicate/extra exercise.

Okay if you go into garmin connect and look at health stats.. then open up the Calories In/Out you can get an exact breakdown of where it is getting the Active Calories.. Click on the Activities header mid screen and you will see it all. Interesting it actually makes a note if you click on the ? next to Daily Steps to explain it only adds in calories for steps that were not part of another activity like running.

I can't agree with you more. Ever since this function has appeared MyFitnessPal is really inaccurate. I've had an instance of 3000 calories pushed to it.

Is there a way we can disable this please?

I am having the same experience of an unrealistic number of calories being added to MyFitnessPal above and beyond the workouts recorded on my vivosmart HR+.

I think that a recent update has addressed this issue.

    Thanks
