Total sleep time counts awake minutes

Anyone experiencing? When I look at my total sleep time, it takes count even of minutes I'm awake in between, like when I wake and go to toilet and go again to bed, or prepare some milk for my child in the middle of sleeping hours.
If I'm not wrong previous GC app wasn't this way.
  • If I'm not wrong previous GC app wasn't this way.

Previous to which version (or which app) specifically?

I'm still running version 3.11.1 of the Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android on one of my devices, and Awake time is included in the total.

I also found this old post of mine in this forum from over a year ago, in which I have provided a screenshot of sleep details presented in Garmin Connect online, and Awake time was also included in the reported total.

These strongly suggest you're simply wrong, and there hasn't been a change in that regard that you somehow failed to notice. I hope that helps resolve your doubt!

Uh, I was quite sure it wasn't included in previous GC app version, it was only showed with pink number but not in total amount.

Which version specifically? v3.11.1, which I'm using on my phone is several versions (and probably as many months) behind the current version. (I have v3.17 running on my tablet, and it also includes Awake time in the total.)

I found this screenshot in a ">‑HR review published in November‑2015">vívosmart‑HR review published in November‑2015:

so I think it's pretty safe to conclude that:
    • the Garmin Connect Mobile app included Awake time in the total even as far back as seventeen months ago; and
    • you're wrong.

I hope that helps settle the issue for both you and other readers.
  • Ok I was definitely wrong...
  • Mine tracks my morning biking commute activity as sleep! Sleep time is ok when I wake up but it later on adds the activity time as sleep...
  • I'm seeing this, too. It's an odd choice because it's difficult to think of something as flatly incorrect to count towards sleep time as ...time spent awake

Yea this is a pretty dumb design decision. Why would anyone think it makes sense to include "awake" time in a total count of time "asleep?"

Same issue here....Garmin tells I slept about 9 hours.....even I only slept about 6 hours. That I have to adjust the sleep time range is pretty annoying after I changed from Fitbit to Garmin. Fitbit detects very accurate when I fall asleep and when I wake up.

    Readout of sleep incorrect

The readout of sleep on my vivofit2 was great, but now the chart portion is showing that I've been awake from 4-6 hours a night. Anyone else have the same problem?
  • Yes, I have the same problem. No sleep stages and the motion graph looks as if I was running like a machine. It's broken since the last update. And even the sleep recordings the nights before the update are broken. On the website everything is fine.
