I have a Motorola Z Force Droid running Android 7.0 and a Garmin Edge 1000 running v12.20 firmware. I cannot get them to pair via Bluetooth. I installed Garmin Connect Mobile 3.17, turned on the Bluetooth on my phone, turned on Bluetooth on the Edge 1000, told it to pair with my Smartphone, my phone found the Edge 1000, they exchanged the 6-digit code, then the Edge 1000 displayed a message saying "Waiting for phone to connect". That message never goes away, it stays in that status no matter what I do. I've returned to the app per the instructions, but again the status never changes.
What I've tried:
1. I've put the Edge 1000 through a factory reset, uninstalled the app from my phone, and started from scratch. Same result.
2. Told the phone to "forget" the Edge, the Edge to "forget" the phone and started from scratch. Same result.
3. Told the devices to "forget" each other, turned off Bluetooth on both devices, started the process over again. Started Garmin Connect Mobile, went through the process until it prompted me to enable Bluetooth, did so, turned on Bluetooth on the Edge 1000, told it to pair with a smartphone. Devices exchanged the 6-digit code, then the Edge went back into "Waiting for phone to connect status".
4. Installed Garmin Connect Mobile on my wife's Samsung S7 Edge running Android 7.0, paired it to the Edge 1000, and it worked perfectly first time.
My conclusion is that the issue with is the Motorola Z Force Droid since it worked so readily on my wife's Samsung. I know that the Bluetooth on my Motorola phone is working as it pairs up with my vehicle (Ford F-150) as well as Bluetooth headphones and speakers. There seems to be some animosity between the Motorola phone and the Edge 1000.
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, PLEASE tell me that you have a solution. I've researched the heck out of this and not found a solution, or I wouldn't be here posting this message.
