Stop Auto-Sync and Edit Exercises?

1) How in the world we can set the Connect Mobile app to stop syncing with watch every time?
I want it only to give me notifications and control music and only sync each 1hour OR when i press Sync in watch (add those 2 options please?)

2) Why can't we edit workouts on app mobile if it already shows it perfectly? Coming soon?
  • How to Sync really depends on the device.

I often edit my activities in Mobile. I don't know if you can edit every data field, but I regularly change the name, time, and distance.

1/It syncs if you open the app and occasionally if you are not looking at the app. Very good system.

2/You want to be able to change the setup of a workout within the mobile app. Contact Garmin Ideas with that request. As a workaround, access the Garmin Connect website from your phones web browser.

I don't care how often it tries to sync. All I care about is how to get it to stop vibrating.

On the band I went through every option I could find several times so I'm not certain what it is that I turned off. I just know that it took multiple tries as every time I got it to stop vibrating it buzzed the next day. I have no idea which Notifications setting I used to finally get it to stop buzzing I think I had to set it in Garmin Connect and do a manual sync for it to stay configured. Finally when it buzzes it tends to mean something. I love the "Move!" and "Goal!" messages. The screen is too small for me to be able to read the "Move bar cleared" message but once I caught it in time to magnify it I now recognize the pattern.

Now I would very much like to figure out how to set my Android phone to not buzz when it loses Bluetooth sync with the band. Anyone who knows how, thanks in advance!

See http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/vivosmarthr/EN-US/GUID-F6B029BB-8CB6-41E3-A78B-1BC35F70B58E.html and look under ‘Connect Alert’.

Thanks. That shows me how to turn off the alert vibrations on the band. After several tries I not just turned off those alerts for the day but I managed to turn them off permanently.

My android mobile phone still buzzes regularly. I'll ask on some android group. It's not a topic for Garmin.
  • I'm unable to reproduce any notification or alert on my Android tablet, even while the Garmin Connect Mobile app is running (in the foreground or in the background), when I disconnect a connected Garmin wearable device (by manually disabling Bluetooth on the device itself), so I don't know what it is that is causing your Android device to vibrate upon disconnnection, sorry.

My point is that I want to use Bluetooth all day for notification and music control, i dont want it to sync anything else. There should clearly be a option for that...
Also I wanna edit my workouts like on website. Shouldn't be that hard since you can already view it on the app.
  • There should clearly be a option for that
    • There was, but not any more.
    • Just because you personally want something doesn't mean someone “should” or is somehow obliged to provide it. What is the good reason from their perspective or in service of their values and priorities that you have in mind?

It drains battery. Surely you can agree an option to turn off sync when the app is not in use to save battery on the phone is for the greater good of both the app provider and the phone manufacturer. The two are in bed.

  • The BTLE has a quite negligible impact on the battery life, but if you really want to stop the syncing, just turn off BT on your watch, and turn it on, onlly when you want to sync, or sync over the USB cable instead.
