Unfortunately, Connect has stopped working, then crash!

I get the message "Unfortunately Connect has stopped working" and connect crashes whenever I attempt to view my sleep graphs ... everything else seems ok. It gives me the option to report (which I did eventually) but I don't know if that will make a difference. Anyone else experience this?

Android OS 6.01
Connect v. 3.15

  • Nevermind ... after 4 days of crashing when I tried to view my sleep graphs on the app, it suddenly started working again this morning. I had planned to remove and re-install the app if it persisted, but it resolved all by itself! Don't know why, but I'll take it!

I frequently get the message "Unfortunately, Connect has stopped" and Connect crashes whenever I attempt to open the app. It gives me the option to report (which I have done multiple times). I continue to get the message every few minutes even when the app is closed.

The Connect app has worked flawlessly for several years with vivosmart HR+ device, until the last 30-60 days.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app (version 4.31.1) and checked that I have the most current Android OS version (6.0.1).

    What else can I do?

  • I have the most current Android OS version (6.0.1).

I hate to disappoint you, but the current version of Android is at v11, and most recent phones run at least the v10. Still GCM should theoretically work with Andorid v6 , but seeing the age of your Android version, I suspect there may be perhaps also a problem with the hardware (for example insufficient RAM). You could try downgrading to an older version of Garmin Connect (from a public APK archive like apkssl.com or apkmirror.com)

    Thanks.

Funny that the app has worked fine for years with the older Android version until the last few months.  Interesting that my phone says there are no updates to the Android.  It is a pretty old phone.

I will look for a previous version of the app and try not to update it next time.

That's why I suggested reversing to an older version. If it previously worked, it will cotinue to work with the old version too, unless your phone is already too full of diverse apps, and needs some clean up.

  • Try 4.32 Works 4 Me Same problem as u with 4.31.1
