New version 3.12 Bluetooth disconnect/connects

Does anyone else experience frequent disconnects/connects with this new version, when watch and phone are close together?
I'm trying to determine if it is something with my local configuration or due to the recent update to Connect Mobile, and would appreciate comments on this from other 3.12 users.
  • I am experiencing this as well. I'll see the red exclamation point under More > Garmin Devices. I tap on it to re-connect, then tap again to sync.
  • Thanks for the input Lakaw.
I guess it is not a common issue, otherwise it would be raining complaints here.
  • Same problem here, very annoying.

    Also experiencing this issue
  • Same problem started yesterday - Garmin Fenix 3 (firmware 8.00) and Connect Mobile (v. 3.12.01). When I turn on BT on Garmin, BT on my mobil phone HTC One M9 start to turn off/on/off/on... and I am not able to do pairing these two devices.
I tried to reset mobil phone to factory reset, but it same. Do you know of any solution?
  • What works for me is this sequence: BT off on watch, BT off on phone, reboot phone (off/on), BT on on phone, BT on on watch, watch will display "Connecting", then wait 20-60 seconds for watch to display "Connected". The connection is then solid for the rest of the day. But your mileage may vary.. it works for a Samsung S5 with Android 4.4, it may be very different on other phones/OS versions.

The issue is, I am not able connect watch to mobile phone, because when I switch on BT on watch, then BT on phone start to cyclic switching on and off. It iswith watch only , not with notebook or handsfree etc. for example
  • Yes, I am also experiencing frequent disconnect/connects between my Moto X phone and a brand new Forerunner 230, even when they are close together. I just got the watch yesterday so I don't know if this is "normal" or not. Garmin Connect version 3.12.0.1 and my phone is on Android 6.0. The watch updated itself to the latest firmware yesterday.

It always seems to reconnect automatically and I wouldn't care at all except it puts a warning notification on my phone and the watch, demanding my attention.

I hope this is a "new" issue that they resolve quickly.
  • Interesting. I noticed my F3 dropping the connection much more often about that time, but I thought it was just because I'd added a second device. Are you guys using Connect's internal BT connection or the native BT connection which came in with 3.11?

cingarf, check if your watch has an alert setting to make it ignore short disconnections. On the Fenix, the BT menu has one option for smart notifications and one for alerts - if you turn alerts off it won't notify you about loss of connection. If it's constantly disconnecting and reconnecting, you probably don't care provided it's connected when you need it.
  • Same here

Don't know for sure if this is the same problem, but I have noticed recently that very often my phone will say "Garmin F3HR is having trouble connecting, do I want to troubleshoot the BT connection", or words to that effect. But, when I go into GC Mobile, the watch connects, and syncs just fine. I just got the F3HR a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not totally familiar with it yet, but it seems this might be the same as above, with the exception that it really doesn't affect anything for me, the watch syncs just as normal with nothing required of me. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, Android v 6.0.1.
