Can you connect a Garmin device with standard Bluetooth (native android bluetooth)

So I can use it as a trusted device, keeps my phone unlocked when its in bluetooth range? Garmin connect seems to use its own hidden bluetooth connection profile. Why?

I have, and Connect's stability is neither worse nor better than before.

But I can now use my VivoActive as a trusted device to keep my Moto G (2015) unlocked.
