Unable to send workout to fenix3

Hi,

I'm trying to upload a new (running) workout via the Android app on my Nexis 5x.
I did the following:
  • Create a new workout on the connect.garmin.com website
  • Switched onBluetooth, so my phone is connected to the fenix3 now
  • Opened the connect app, went to workouts and taped the send icon
  • The app said "syncing", it went green, and the fenix3 watch shows "Updating"
  • After that, I went to Training->My Workouts on the fenix3, but the Workout I just tried to upload does not appear in that list


I already rebooted the phone AND the fenix3, but it doesn't change anything. This whole process seems to be flaky: it works sometimes, but not consistently. For example, this morning I tried to upload two different workouts, but only one of them made it to the watch. As of now I wasn't able to upload the other as well.
The about screen on my fenix3 says "Software Version 7.50".

How can I solve this?
