Garmin Fenix 3 - Galaxy S7 Edge

So I just recently picked up a Fenix 3. I have installed the Garmin connect mobile app and did th bluetooth sync through the app. I received all the messages on my phone to authorize the garmin app for notifications etc. I have notifications turned on and the watch is paired to my phone. However, for the life of me no notifcations are showing up on the watch. I have tried a phone call to my cell and a text message to my cell. Have I missed something?

Thanks!
  • Confirming

I am confirming this issue. Mine worked for a day, and then notifications, music control, calendar all stopped working. I've deleted the pairing and recreated it. Restarted the phone and Fenix multiple times.

When I go into Connect (after removing/adding) the device it seems to be stuck on a "sending software update" then Syncing loop. And now Connect just said the Fenix was registered but not connected. I've been through the pairing multiple times and always the "are now paired" message.

So right now I have a nice activity watch but not the smart watch I wanted.

Did you get this issue resolved? I just switched to a GS7 and have a Fenix 3 HR on order. I'm hoping to have a flawless experience with the two devices.
  • Workaround

I wouldn't say it is resolved, but I found a decent work around.

Download an app called "GCM runner". That keeps it connected the majority of the time. Garmin should just really buy this product and build it into Connect. Or stop using a proprietary connection method and just use standard blue tooth.

I found it also helps to restart the Fenix about 1x week.
  • Thanks. Got my F3HR on Saturday and it paired perfectly with my GS7. Notifications come thru just fine for me.
