GPS on the phone need to be constantly on?

Hi,

Just got myself a FR235. Connected to my phone thru Bluetooth for Smart Notification But I am wondering why do I need the GPS on the phone to be constantly on to establish the connection?

Using Android Phone with Garmin FR235.

That's a requirement of Android 6.0.

You should be able to find a lot of discussion in the forum about that.
