Connect version 3.10 (update)

Hi everyone.

Has anybody updated the connect version on your Android to the newest one, the 3.10.

So far the 3.09 is working well with my setup (forerunner 25 and moto G4 on Android marshmallow) and I don't want to mess things up with an update, as it has happened to me (and others) previous times.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks.

I'm using GCM 3.10 with a Fenix 3 only for smartphone notifications so my experience is somewhat limited, but the connectivity between Fenix and phone (Samsung S5) seems to have been improved. Before 3.10 the connection between F3 and phone would often (~50%) break (widgets "waiting for data" and no notifications) after having switched BT off on the F3 and then on again, which required restarting the phone. No need for that anymore, it just reconnects quickly.

Probably someone else here can report on how well syncing works with this release.
  • I've been using it all day and haven't encountered any issues. I also like the idea that on the my day snapshot, my VA shows a green dot to indicate it's connected.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience mate.

I must say that the connectivity between the FR25 and the Moto G4 sometimes is interrupted specially while syncing, haven't figured out what to do to prevent this to happen.

Great to hear that, thank you very much. BTW didn't know about the connection status "dot". Nice feature huh?
  • Yes, although I said it was on the My Day snapshot. It's actually on the hamburger menu.

Spoke too soon - used Fenix and Fenix 2 on the same phone with GCM last night to update their satellite info. Used Fenix 3 again with GCM since this morning. Now whenever the F3 has been out of reach of the phone it won't reconnect and I have to restart the phone to get it to connect again.

Also the connection to my Bluetooth activity tracker breaks constantly. So I don't think it's GCM's fault, it's more likely Bluetooth on the phone. It's all fine up until I pair the Fenix 2 and/or Fenix, after that it goes wonky.

HI Twinnaxx, have you kept "location" on your phone always ON?

I think that's a must for the devices connect and reconnect once out of range f Bluetooth.
  • Thanks, did't know that.
I do have location service on at all times, but only low-resolution ("use wifi for location service" is set to off, so when I'm not at home apps get the location of the cell tower the phone is registered to). Thought that should be enough, can try with wifi enabled though.
