Sync with Vivoactive HR doesn't go through fully

Hi,
I yesterday bought the Vivoactive HR and the watch itself is pretty impressive. But I have some troubles syncing it with the app. It starts syncing. The progress bar visible at the bottom of the app goes about 50% and then goes green and tells me that "only HR activities synced". When I look at the app data now I can see my three swimming sessions from this morning. What I don't see is my sleeping data from last night nor the steps that I have done today. At the time of the swimming sync there should have been ~4000 steps already but the only thing I see on the "My day" view is that the last sync was at 8.50 (the swimming sync) but that there is no step data available. On the watch I can see my step data.

I tried to force a sync via the bluetooth settings of the watch itself, but it also always stops halfway. I also removed and re-added the watch to the app, but nothing. I also changed in the app the step target in the user settings of the device (which tells it will be updated on the watch on the next sync) but so far the watch still uses the default value. Looking at the sync result text if says that both Upload and download were successful and that there are no items to process even so both should have something to sync (upload: new target; download: steps, sleeping data, ...).

How can I fix that?

Edit: in case it's important. The OS is an android derivate called Fairphone OS 1.6.2.

I think I got it working. Installed the desktop program, which synced properly. Played around with it for some time changing the settings of the watch the way I wanted. Afterwards it started syncing with the mobile app too. Now I only need to get the floor counter and the sleep recognition working. Back to reading manuals.
