Anyone else experiencing this problem? I can't narrow it down to a specific firmware version, but it has been within the last month. When I receive fb messenger notifications, the watch face shows a message has been received, but there is no name and the body of the message is blank. I have a s4 mini, no updates to my android version. Watch is running version 7.5. I have power cycled several times and deleted and re-added the notification in connect.
Tried factory reinstall of phone, so I am pretty sure it is bug in Garmin connect. WhatsApp messager show contact name fine. So facebook messenger must need something added.
I have the same issue on my Droid Maxx - Android version 4.4.4. Seems it started a couple of versions of GCM ago. Worked fine with all versions of the Fenix 3 firmware (I'm on the beta track). With each beta upgrade nothing changed. I've tried reinstalling GMC with no help. Other notifications are fine - e-mail, text notifications, etc. But FB messenger is blank just like the OP's. What's up Garmin?
EDIT: Update - I called Garmin support and also visited the Customer Service Center and they weren't able to help me. I was told my phone was too old and there must be some setting in my phone that was blocking part of the notification. They told me it couldn't be the GCM app causing the problem.
So, I found older versions of both FB Messenger (63.0.0.10.56) and GCM (3.7.0.3) online and downgraded them from the most current versions of both on my phone. And guess what works now? Then I upgraded FB Messenger back to current, and it still worked fine. So for sure there is a problem with GCM on the older version of Android. Garmin - there's your answer.
For those of you with this issue, you're going to have to downgrade your version of GCM.
