System Unit Always Reset to Imperial after set to Metric

I owned Fenix 3 HR. I manually change unit setting to Metric on Fenix, but then after it get sync to connect IQ it will revert back to imperial.

I tried change this setting on Connect IQ System Unit to Metric. Then I press back and check back it setting value on Connect IQ, it revert back to Imperial.

I suspect issue is on Connect IQ.
  • Well maybe it has be reintroduced in this case because i just tested again and all the units changed again. So no its not fixed. And all the units are set correctly in ge and mobile and it only started to happen a couple of weeks ago.

Same issue here. Watch and app run latest sw. Set to metric all over the line.
  • Same problem here!

    This is very annoying!
In fact, it started happening for me the first weeks of August. It so happened as I was travelling to Houston. I did not make much case of it, as I then supposed it must have had something to do with my android phone understanding I was in the US, and therefore converting everything back to imperial system. It was the same for running and cycling.
STRANGELY enough though: I get all my running laps in min/km and not min/mile, however instant pace and distance are both in miles/min and miles
I then went back to Europe and now in Africa again. Well guess what: I am still in with the imperial unit system. I must have changed it back a half dozen times, for distance, speed, weight and height etc on the watch settings. I have double checked it on the GC website. But as soon as I start my run, I discover I am back on miles again!
I did notice as well that the GC wants to send to me a user settings update, and heart rate zone updates, and even activity goal update! Updates that I have never made but keep coming up anyway!

    thanks for your help

  • My FR910XT flipped the total distance field to miles whereas my average speed displays in Km/hr.
    I also have a vivoactive.

Both devices continually indicate that user settings need to be synced. I sync the devices and the flag goes away and then comes back within minutes. It's kind of weird. I have the VA set to statute and the FR910XT set to metric. I'm thinking lines are getting crossed.
  • I have changed the units on the web interface, the mobile app and the fenix 3 to imperial and then back to metric again and synced and so far it seems to remember that i really want it to be metric.
My brother got the same issue now so we will see if we can reproduce the fix... Maybe this helps some of you as well.
  • Set the device settings you want in Garmin Connect on the internet, then sync them to the device. While we would all probably like the last change we make, whether device or mobile to be the one that sticks, it's Garmin Connect on the web that rules. Set them there. Sync them. Problem solved. It's always a good idea to have them there anyway in case you have problems with the device.
  • Problem still ongoing.
It kept quiet for a few days and I was a happy camper. But now again, GC wants to send new user settings to the watch, including imperial units!

    How i fixed mine, FINALLY!

I had the same issue. After trying several methods to change the unit of measurement, this one solved it for me.

Go to garmin connect on your internet. Click on the "devices" tab, look under device settings, there should be a segment called device display. Save it, sync your device, and it'll be fixed. It will also be reflected on the garmin app on your phone.

Hope it helps you! I had my problem for almost a month, imagine the frustration!

    Cheers
