Apple music controls not working?

I have an android (Note 4) and an apple music subscription. Use the Vivoactive HR to control google music and all is well. Switch the "default music player" to apple music and try to control apple music playback and it doesn't work anymore. The play, next track, prev track buttons all look like they try to open the apple music application again rather than perform their assigned duties. Vol +/- works the way they are supposed to.

Does anyone's device properly control apple music on an android phone?

I'm also looking for an answer, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, Garmin Forerunner 235 and Apple Music but the music control doesn't do anything, just the volume works but everything else is not working. Any soluttion?

Same problem with me.
Samsung S7
Apple Music cannot skip to next track. Volume and Pause work.
