Software updates via mobile app?

Presently touring with just my Garmin 1000 & Android phone. When I synced via Bluetooth today, the Connect app put a msg in the notification bar saying that a software update was available and that I should use Express on a PC to update. However, when I select Devices from the app menu, there is a progress bar under the 1000 saying that it is downloading the S/W update. The progress bar never completes, and the 1000 doesn't ask if it should apply the update the next time it powers on. It is presently running 8.10 F/W.
  • It can take a long time to get a FW update over BT. Not sure how big the files are for the 1000, but on the watch I have, it's about 2mb and that can take an hour if I'm near my phone. When I'm getting a FW update, I'll actually put a piece of paper on the progress bar to I can make sure it's moving... BT is not that fast, and these files are big..
