Forerunner 235 stuck in "Sending Software Update" loop

I just bought a Forerunner 235 today. After setting it up, and pairing it with my phone via the Garmin Connect App (on android 6.0.1), I was hoping that it would update the watches firmware. If I look at the "Garmin Devices" window in the app, I see my watch, and the status says "Sending Software Update". After a bit of time it will say that the "Sync Failed", begin to "Sync" again, and end up back at "Sending Software Update". The watch is currently running 3.30.

Any and all help is much appreciated.

So after a few more iterations of the above, I realized that the send was farther along each time. And so, after about 40 total iterations, the update completed.
