Possible to revert back to an older version of Garmin Connect Mobile on my Phone?

Is there a way of reverting back to an older version of Garmin Connect Mobile on my Android phone?

Since updating to the latest version (3.5.0.1) of Connect I can no-longer upload rides from my Edge 1000 device (Software Version 8.00) via Bluetooth. The Connect App shows that my Edge 1000 is connected and other Bluetooth features such as Call Alerts work. But when I try to upload rides via Bluetooth my Edge 1000 indicates "Upload Failed". The Connect App also shows my Edge 1000 continually Synching even though when I connect my Edge 1000 to the Connect server via my Windows computer and a USB cable there's nothing to sync. I can still upload rides from my Edge 1000 directly via Wi-Fi and also through my Windows computer and a USB cable, so as a work around I need to make sure Bluetooth is switched off on my phone so that my Edge 1000 uploads rides directly via Wi-Fi when I get home.

    This thread:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?345708-VO2Max-is-lost-with-3-4-1-1/page3
contains a link to the apk of an older version of GCM.

Not certain if this is possible on all devices and how safe/advisable it is, but I have been using that version for a couple of days on Android 4.4.2 and Android 5.1.1 (both Samsung) with Fenix, Fenix 2 and Fenix 3. Pairing and notifications work. I have NOT checked if syncing and other functions (live track etc) work though.

The Google Play setting "auto update apps" has to be set to off to prevent the app being updated again - but that then applies to all apps, so be careful to allow security updates and updates to other apps after having done that. Needless to say, you'll miss out on new functionality and bug fixes.

As for Fenix pairing issues: it is somehow very difficult. Fenix 3 and Fenix 2 were easy to pair in one go, but the orginal Fenix needed about 10 times of trying. It seemed to be a timing issue during the pairing process, sometimes the Android device would pick up the Fenix before GCM did and then the Fenix would say "forget Fenix on mobile device". Other times it would time out if I had not enabled pairing on the Fenix at exactly the right time. I wanted to document the process, but after the n-th time I gave up, so I can't share the magic sequence, unfortunately.

The Edge 1000 I don't know, but on a Fenix, a corrupt .FIT file can interfere with Bluetooth syncing, while USB syncing still works.

Garmin used to have the best app out of all fitness app, but then they just suddenly updated it to be the worst. I'm so fustrated with the new app its just a bunch of random numbers in random order. It used to be soooo good really simple and easy to use, that's why I got into using garmin fitness wear in the first place. I would switch back to the old app in less than a second  even if I lost all my previous data given the chance
