LG G3 with Android 6.0 will not connect

I've owned a Fenix 3 for a little over a month, and never have gotten it to connect to my LG G3 phone. I've been able to connect the watch to an iPhone without issue, and my LG G3 easily connects to any other Bluetooth device without fail. It appears this issue is software related, and although my phone is listed as compatible, I'm not seeing that to be the case.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I see that some Android users are finding work-arounds with location and/or language settings.

Is there any guestimate for when Garmin will resolve this? A large percentage of my interest in this device was for phone connectivity for various apps and notifications... and the device is useless for these at the moment. I can still hard-wire connect to a computer without issue...
  • GCM incompatible with Andoid 6

since update doesn't connect with Fenix2 on Samsung either. It seems to be fairly common if you read the app reviews and as usual being ignored by Garmin

It's not phone related. It's an issue with Android 6 MM. Programmers at Garmin did not do their training, they probably think they already know everything.

For me it worked really well prior to updating Android, since then I tried everyting I could find in those forums and on tutorials, however it just works for one day tops. Then again it does not connect...

Hope their will be a glorious update at one point when it can be used again for upload and smart notifications.

Actually, read this post so you understand what's going on. The thread it's in contains even more info.

I believe I understand the issue with Location services, permissions, etc.

That said, even if I accept all permissions for the GC app, I am still unable to connect the phone to the watch. This doesn't appear to be an isolated case. I have not actually had a successful connection to my LG G3 for any duration of time over 1 second.

I'm still hoping for a fix, but not extremely optimistic at this point.
  • Seems an odd explanation because my watch and phone (Sony Xperia Z3 with Android 6.0.1) can sync with each other but it's the GC that's not working/syncing. I have not run to any other BT equipment not working with Android 6.0.1 so far.
    Garmin come on !

You're only paired to the watch from Garmin Connect Mobile, and not from the phone itself, correct?

You don't want to be paired to it in your phone settings. (it's BLE and not typical BT)

I guess maybe what I should be asking is:

Is anyone on here using an LG G3 with Android 6.0 and a Fenix 3, successfully?

Nothing special. I bought Fenix 3HR about one week ago and simply paired it via bluetooth with my phone. That's all.
