LG G3 with Android 6.0 will not connect

I've owned a Fenix 3 for a little over a month, and never have gotten it to connect to my LG G3 phone. I've been able to connect the watch to an iPhone without issue, and my LG G3 easily connects to any other Bluetooth device without fail. It appears this issue is software related, and although my phone is listed as compatible, I'm not seeing that to be the case.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I see that some Android users are finding work-arounds with location and/or language settings.

Is there any guestimate for when Garmin will resolve this? A large percentage of my interest in this device was for phone connectivity for various apps and notifications... and the device is useless for these at the moment. I can still hard-wire connect to a computer without issue...

    Thank you for your reply.

I do have location services turned on.

I am enabling Bluetooth thru Connect. My Fenix 3 is listed in my available devices section in Bluetooth settings, but trying to pair either thru Connect or Bluetooth settings fails.

I did uninstall and reinstall Connect a few times, and have rebooted the Fenix 3, as well.

    Phone info: Android Version 6.0
    Watch Info: Software Version 6.92
    Display 3.31
    GPS 3.00
    BLE/ANT 3.34
    Wi-Fi 2.00
    Ciq 1.2.2
  • DO NOT pair your f3 with the phones BT settings and ONLY with Garmin Connect Mobile. If it's paired to your phone, it might stop you from pairing with GCM (It's two completely different modes of BT)

The watch is not paired with the phone in Bluetooth settings. It shows as available, but not paired.

I guess maybe what I should be asking is:

Is anyone on here using an LG G3 with Android 6.0 and a Fenix 3, successfully?
  • Hi jeremiell

I confirm it work for me with a fenix3 and my lg g3 on Android 6.0. It was difficult at the beginning to pair the devise but now it work perfectly. To operate, the watch have to have permissions. But the phone didn't ask them immediatly. So do the procedure (with blutooth and GPS on, GPS is required with new Android 6.0 ...thanks Google ! ....) and wait for the permissions messages on your phone. It may take a while, somethink like one or too hour.
Sorry for my pour english langage, i hope you understand me

Thank you for this information, it seems to have put me on track with some hope of this eventually functioning!

I went in my phone to Settings / Security / Notification Access and found Connect as an available app, but unchecked. I checked the app and went back in to attempt syncing the phone.

Prior to this, "Ready to Pair" would spin out and fail every time. I am now granted a password, and when I type it in the Phone says Authenticated, but is unable to fully connect. I then go through a loop of reentering new passwords as they populate on the watch screen.

What next? I'm further than I've ever been but still unfortunately unable to connect.

Okay, after a couple of hours of attempting this, I've gotten a step closer...

    I'm now receiving the following:
    Authenticated
    Connected ##:##:##:##:##:##
    Checked device registration
    Requesting device identification file...

At this point, I receive the following:
    Garmin device disconnected

I seem to go through this routine about one every three tries, now. Earlier today I could only get a Passkey loop, but not a Connected notification. Seems like it's close, but still not connecting. Any thoughts beyond this point?

since update doesn't connect with Fenix2 on Samsung either. It seems to be fairly common if you read the app reviews and as usual being ignored by Garmin
