Frequent bluetooth disconnect notifications

I cannot find anywhere in connect to shut this annoying message of

Disable Connect Alert on the vivosmart HR.

Are there any other workarounds?

Actually, the reality is I tend NOT to trust the owners manual. I've had 5+ Garmin devices, and I think in all cases, it didn't match the device I had. Part of this is they are are often written a while before the product ships, at a point where there could be features that are still up in the air, and on top of that, there are many times things are added or changed with FW releases. Manual updates don't happen that often, and they could be wrong...

Case in point: The vivoactive started shipping about a year ago, and one of the very early questions, was how to see the time while recording something like a run. Yes you could add a TOD datafield, but it turns out there was an "undocumented" feature that as of when I last checked the user's guide, was still undocumented! If you press and hold the screen, it takes you to the watchface as well as the widget loop, so you can read notifications, control your tunes, etc...

Even if the user manual says "x", I think it's a good thing to use the forum to see about "x" and what may have changed.

And in many cases, someone may have only looked at the manual when they first got a device and some of the stuff was skipped over as they just want to get it working, don't have a link to it any more. Answering questions even if it's documented elsewhere without any other comment is FAR better than a "RTFM" comment (IMHO)!

With due respect – and my impression of you is that you're helpful, knowledgeable, with an in-depth understanding of the intricacies due in no small part to your great Connect IQ applications development work, and have done your fair share of RTFM – I disagree. If people come to an open forum looking for help without giving me some indication that they've spent the time reading the owner's manuals, trying to understand their devices, done their experimentation/trial-and-error, then even if I give them informative answers to their questions, it's still worthwhile to openly call out their not having done their part as a responsible end-user who looks after themselves. I wasn't given the links to the manuals; I found them through basic Web searches, and if I can find them, so can others. It doesn't matter whether people just want their devices to work and serve their purposes, without having to put in time and effort to study and understand; their view, values and preferences are irrelevant to proper process. They might view their time as important – more important than to do so basic homework themselves – but they ought not expect any fellow customer or forum member to concur, and I tend to word my answers to convey that their time and their preferences are not important to others.

Thank you for the tip but unless I'm looking in the wrong place there is no mention of a "Connect Alert" anywhere in Garmin connect. Manuals are only as good as they are up to date which this seems to be out of date and why it's not a useful way to spend your time. My intention more so was to find out if anyone else has encountered this problem and if they had any success in using a workaround other than the one I had mentioned.

I have this same issue with Fenix 3 HR connected to LG V10. Bluetooth alerts are turned off at the watch (have never been turned on even). So this seems to be happening at the phone level, not the device.

Not quite that many. I've only read maybe 200–300 of your recent posts.

Because you don't control it from Garmin Connect, you control whether there are (dis)connection alerts for a particular device from the device itself.

Have you tried toggling the Connect Alert for the vivosmart HR and observing/deciding for yourself what that does, and whether it affects the phenomenon in question? The equivalent operation worked for this other Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android user, even though his wearable device is a Fenix_3.

By the way, I don't have a vivosmart HR, and you didn't say in this thread you're using one, but there is enough information if one bothered to look. I looked, because I took the task of understanding the issue seriously. I expect you to have done all you can to look for answers without involving others first, if you take the issue equally seriously.

Yes I just toggled the alert to on just to see what will happen and being that my device had already had the feature toggled off the post appears to be similar but unrelated to my current issue. The purpose of my original post was to ask if anyone else had experienced the issue to determine if it was a known issue or something specific to my phone or VSHR itself.

You seem quick to assume the level of effort I had previously put into researching this issue before posting because I didn't include the information you wanted. Yes I did spend time looking on google and this forum however I stuck to the mobile application and VSHR forums before deciding to make a post since I didn't find an active discussion on it. I have to ask though what do you deem the purpose of this forum is if you don't feel someone shouldn't start a discussion while continuing to troubleshoot & research their own issue?

Yeah that was my assumption as well that it was more than likely something to do with the most recent update the Garmin connect and communicating with the phone's bluetooth adapter.

I made another post earlier but for some reason it's not actually gone through.

The connect alert was turned off but for fun I turned it on just to see what happens. I'm still getting notifications on my phone but now it's also alerting me on my VSHR as well so I don't believe this feature is tied to the notifications I'm getting on my phone.
