Forerunner 235 won't pair ... because servers are down?

Last night my FR 235 watch wouldn't sync so I uninstalled/re-installed the Connect app on my phone and now I cannot pair my watch to my phone - have tried restarting both many times. App simply tells me "device not found". My watch 's blue tooth says "waiting to connect". I am tempted to reset my watch to factory default, but I will lose all my data!! Is this an issue because the servers are down?? Should I wait for awhile until Garmin gets their sh*t together and fixes their server?

  • Okay, I got it connected finally ... turned my phone's Bluetooth on and off again, and suddenly it saw my watch! Figures ... I solve it just after I get frustrated enough to post up here! This together with the Garmin servers being down has really got my pressure up! ... better go for a run!

Same issue here but I'm still unable to pair my 235 and the phone. Tried everything you did, restarted my phone, turn bluetooth on/off, i even went for a run...

If you bother to post on here, at least state what phone and which OS version are you pairing it with. BT is a bag of dicks and behaves irrationally throughout devices.

Fair enough ... my phone is a Blackberry Priv (Android 5.1.1).

  • With the Garmin servers being down, that was why you couldn't pair. In paring, it access things in your GC account. That would account for it working today but not yesterday.

Yeah I agree. I've had my watch for about 6 weeks and this is the first time I have noticed a 'downage' like this. I must say, I burned quite a few calories due to frustration and inventing a few new curse words before I realized what was wrong ... I was very close to returning my watch!

Kinda funny story (not really): I even went outside for a short walk (in my flip-flops) thinking that activating the GPS might sort things out ... while I was walking looking intently at my watch, I mis-stepped on the sidewalk curve, turned my ankle then fell on my face in shock! Doh! Insult to injury! That's when the new curse words were invented and shared with my neighborhood! lol

  • The BEST thing to do when problems suddenly appear is DO NOTHING. Don't un-pair, don't re-install. Nothing! :)

Just try again in a bit of time (I give it an hour to start), and not worry until the next day.

You won't lose any data, it's just that you won't see data on your phone, but can still see it on the watch.
  • Good advice ... lesson learned the hard way!
