New Forerunner 235 pairing to Motorola Turbo 2

I bought a Forerunner 235 yesterday and I am trying to pair it with my phone. I have updated the software to 4.1 via my computer.

When I go to pair mobile device on the watch and Add a device on the Garmin connect app, the app finds the watch and says "Do you want to pair with Forerunner 235?" I say "Yes" and I get numerous error messages saying "Connecting to device failed". This error shows when I click Show details.

Any ideas on what may be done to fix this? I upgraded from a Forerunner 410 and was looking forward to being able to sync to my phone.

Saving and posting a android screen shot with "show details" could help folks to figure what's wrong. It would show what worked and where it failed.

Oh, and what version of Android? And make sure you have "location services" turned on! If you don't, turn them on and try again..

I am running marshmallow 6.0. I currently have all location settings turned on.
