Connect takes 106MB of memory

Garmin Connect for Android is the biggest memory-eater on my phone - 106MB! Just for comparison, no less functional applications, such as
Strava, Instagramm and Stitcher take 16, 8 and 14MBs respectively.

Why it takes so much memory?
Are there any plans to improve application size-wise?
  • At one point, Garmin acknowledged a memory leak in Mobile Connect that they were working to correct. That was, maybe, 3 versions ago. I don't see 106 MB on mine. I see 43MB of storage used. What would be useful is if Connect could store its data on the SD card.

The interesting question is what happens to your 106 MB if you reboot.
  • Yeah, actually you're right! It's a memory leak, not the size of app itself. Just rebooted the phone, 27MB!
As such I see that it's a known issue. Really hope it is resolved in a reasonable time. Yes, I know, it's not about Garmin. ))

So can someone advise me, how to get Garmin Connect out of running apps and out of memory? I'd like to launch the app only when really needed, then terminate.
  • You can't really nor should you want to, I think. Depending on the device, that would mean reconnecting multiple times and after a while, it's bound to become a hassle.
