I have recently bought a 230 forerunner . I am using a Samsung Galaxy phone with a Garmin HRM . Using Garmin Express on my PC and Garmin connect on my phone... All working nicely , BUT when it comes to Alerts... during the workout.I can only hear lap number and time... but i cant hear pace/speed alerts and heart rate alerts which is the reason i bought this watch. I 've contacted Garmin through email. the suggestion was to uninstall everything and install them again... and reboot the watch. done that but still the same. Is it Garmin connect app problem? my phone problem? the watch problem? Can anyone assist please????????:confused::confused:

Please update the firmware version of the 230 using Garmin Express. https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/start/. I'll have to check, but it's possible the firwmare to support heartrate and speed/pace haven't been released yet.

thanks for this tip... you've made my day. I ve update everything , also resetting the phone ... Re-install garmin connect and express from phone and the pc... reboot the watch but nothing changed. I hope you are right about that. if its true then i will not have to sent it back to the dealer.Strange thing i cant see any other post regarding this... hope you can confirm that... thanks :D :D

    fjincy,

I just spoke with the hardware developer. As I suspected, there is currently NO public firmware version that supports heart rate and speed/pace audio alerts. He told me a release is "tentatively" scheduled for next week, though. Eventually, these devices will tell the app "hey, I support only 'lap' audio prompts with this firmware version", so the app doesn't mislead you and show you a screen for configuring heart rate & speed/pace.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    one more thing please!

I've contacted Garmin through email. I've let them know the problem and they have requested to send them back the watch after exchanging a few emails? Why is that?:confused::confused: if the problem is that pace heart rate is not supported in audio prompts why then they ask me to sent them the watch for replacement? are they not familiar with the problem? Now i am way more confused! May i ques that the person who sends the emails is unfamiliar with this and he is like an automatic reply or he may did not understand the problem? sending them the watch means that i will stay for several days without it! and if it just not supporting the feature then that means they will sent it back as they will not find any problem. I really don't know what to do...

    Why is that?

Good question. Did you tell the rep about this forum thread? You probably know more than the rep, at this point. :) The firmware to support the new audio prompts is scheduled for next week sometime. It's up to you, but I would just hold on to the watch and wait for the update. Since you already have the configuration set up in the app, once the watch (with the new firmware) and the app start talking to one-another, the watch will receive the configuration. The watch will know you want the new audio prompts to be spoken, and therefore will send the app the data.
