BMI calculation on Weight screen is wrong.

The first few times I weighed in the BMI was correct. (checked against various other BMI apps and web pages.)

The last few times I've weighed in, the BMI is wrong. It does not appear to have changed since my weigh-in a few weeks back. I also have a friend that says his is wrong also (again, checking against other apps and web pages).

This may just be an update issue to the screen because the calculation is simple. And if it works once, it should always work. And it did work the first few weeks I used the weigh-in..

Anybody have any ideas
Thanks

Ok, its correct now. Not sure what changed. Could have been the update to GarminConnectMobile a few days ago but I didn't notice it till now. Anybody know where to find the current version in Android GarminConnectMobile?
  • I have the same problem. I have the 2.90 version of software, but the BMI is 'stuck' on what it was when I first got the Vivosmart HR. If anyone knows how to fix this, please share.

    Same issue here!

I am 5.8 at 134.7 that put BMI at 20.5, but connect shows 23.0 same as when i got my vivosmart HR.

The weight display correctly on the app (I get the weight from apple health sync or weight logger (+ the fat%) - since I have a fitbit scale, in case it matters)
  • I'm very curious now, I have never seen a value for BMI in my GCM. Where do you find it? Would expect it under Weight and it is mentioned in the Help, but nowhere to see.
  • Yes, it's under the weight screen. 3 circles - BMI, weight, and loss/gain. Both on Android and iOS. I checked both and they match with the charts state and what my Withings scale is reporting.
  • You are right!!! I've never checked values, but how could one screw up that simple equation???
It shows 25.7 for me, when it should be 26.09. LOL
  • That's hardly a big error and could be due to rounding in conversions from metric to imperial. The difference between 25.7 and 26.1 is not even half a percentage point. And it makes little difference as you would still be classed as overweight. Does get a bit more painful when you're close to obese (BMI >30 kg/m^2) like me. I oscillate between 29.something and 30.something. One is overweight, the other obese. And it's not fat! It comes from being short and stocky!

As always, make sure you have the correct height and correct weight.

Same here..mine is showing 110 as BMI on android. Has anybody found a solution to fix this?
  • In your case, I'd be checking that you've got your height and weight entered correctly. Unless you are grossly overweight you ain't going to have a BMI of 100!
  • HELP!!! My BMI is 30699.1

From reading the posts I would think that my height must be entered incorrectly - but when I go onto my profile on my laptop Garmin Connect and my profile - my height is correct... any other ideas?
    Thanks,
