Vivosmart HR - Smart notifications doesn´t work after phone loses connection

I bought a vivosmart HR and so far I´m impressed. However one of the main features and reason why I chose this product doesn´t work properly. I paired the band with my phone and Connect app without
problems and everything works fine unless I get out of the bluetooth range. The connection is then not properly reestablished and while some functions work (Music control, Weather), the smart notifications keep
saying "No App Connection Available". Also the list of available devices in Garmin Connect is empty and shows "An error occured". To make it work again you have to connect phone to the internet and turn bluetooth on your smartband on and off. If the phone is connected to the Internet then the connection is re-established without problem. Also if you are offline the Connect app shows only data in the "My Day" panel. The other panels are empty.

So to make long story short in order to properly reconnect smartband your phone has to be online. To make SmartNotifications reliable, your phone has to be always online as well. Also you won´t be able to see much of the data in the Connect app unless you are online because the moment you return to homescreen it forgets everything unless it pulls it from the internet again.

Seriously this is driving me crazy. Any ideas?

I have Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 (basically ZTE Blade 6 - Snapdragon 615) phone with Android 5.0.3

  • I don't think there is any getting around some of the issues you describe. However, you also say that paired to the phone and also Connect. If so, you should not pair to the phone directly as it conflicts with the Connect pairing. You should forget the VSHR on the phone's bluetooth. It should be more reliable than what you've described so far.

I paired the band with the phone first, but after I had to reinstall the Connect app I paired it only within it.

It has to be a bug since the weather and music control works perfectly fine.
