Sync issues

Got my vivofit2 yesterday. I have to manually sync to my garmin connect app. I called garmin support and they said it may take a minute but it should work. It's been several minutes now (with connect app closed then opened). I pull down & see the circle indicator which I presume means it's syncing.

Vivofit2 never syncs on its own to connect app. I have to manually sync.

I connected the garmin connect app to my fitnesspal. If that matters.
