WhatsApp notifications bug?

Hi,

I'm running the app version 3.1.3 and I'm finding that although WhatsApp notifications can be found in the notification section on my Vivoactive (3.30) that they don't pop up the notification text when they arrive or vibrate so I don't know they are there. Have cleared the cache, uninstalled /reinstalled, turned notification on/off/on but it's still the same issue. Also the watchface doesn't make a difference. Any suggestions please? It's my main messager with my wife & I get in trouble if I miss the messages ;-)

Thanks

Neil
  • I don't use whatsapp but there was a post recently about setting an option in the messaging system (it was either whatsapp or hangouts - I don't remember which) to display the entire text in notifications. If you can't find the option easily, search the Garmin forum for "notification" for the past month.
  • Thanks Phil,

I'll have another scout through the posts later *thumbs-up*

    Cheers

    Neil

  • Resolved: If anyone else has the same problem mine was fixed by turning off pop-up notifications in the WhatsApp app settings on my LG G3.

    Thanks

Great, that worked, thanks a lot!
P.S. Very little help from official support, only general recommendations to do a master reset:confused:
  • What makes you think Garmin support would know anything about Whatsapp? It seems to me that's the kind of problem that would be solved in a user-to-user forum like this one.

    1. I bought a product not from users, so I expect technical assistance from official party responsible for it. There're official channels and there are unofficial ones, so it's up to the customer which one to choose.
    2. In Connect Mobile there's an option to add a notification for an app, the Connect Mobile app itself is not programmed by forum users, there are programmers for Garmin that should be aware of what they programmed and there should be connection and information exchange between them internally. Me as a customer shouldn't be bothered by the behaviour of the Garmin app, I have a problem - I report it to the responsible party, that's it.
    3. Whatsapp is just an app you can add notifications from the Garmin Connect Mobile. The problem is not related to Whatsapp-specific, any social messenger will not show notifications on your Garmin device with pop-up notifications turned on in the messenger. Thus the problem is not specific, it's generic.
  • In this case, the issue was a specific setting in Whatsapp.

To follow your logic, Garmin would have to be aware of every setting in every app on the market in case someone calls.

I personally think that's asking a bit much.

However there are lots of users out there that use all sorts of apps with their Garmin devices and they would be much more likely to know what to do in a non-Garmin app.

    Old issue, still present.
It work for me too. Galaxy Note 10+, same issue..
Turn off and on again WA notification from WA app and re-enable notification for wa in garmi connect App.

    Thnx

  • Does this still work? You get all notifications or just the last one?
