New Garmin Connect Mobile 3.0 lost Strava sync

I use Garmin Connect Mobile and got the recent update 3.0 for my HTC One M8

I used to have Strava as a 3rd Party App so my Fenix 3 could sync to both, but this new update doesn't have Strava under its 3rd Party List, only MyFitnessPal.
And there's no way to add a new app either, only an "other partners" header which isn't clickable.

Anyone else having this problem?

Are you trying to use Strava Live Segments, or just sync your activities to Strava?

If you are wanting to sync activities to Strava, you need to connect from Strava's web site.

If you want to use Strava Live Segments, go to the notifications page (Open menu drawer, touch 'inbox' at top) and touch the Strava Live Segments item.
  • It's not there in GCM, but it is still there on the web version (at least my link to Strava is still present).

From what I recall of setting it up, it was setup from the Strava end rather than the GarminConnect end - maybe that's the reason?
  • Yes I did try linking to GCM through the Strava App last night, in an effort to rectify the matter.
Strava said it had connected to GCM, but it's still not showing Strava in the GCM 3rd Party App list... :(

The Fenix3 also hasn't sync'd my run last night, despite supposedly completing synchronisation a few times - I initiated the sync from both GCM and from the Fenix3 itself, but it still shows my latest activity being my Wednesday night cycle.
The steps from Thursday have sync'd though.

I uninstalled GCM and re-installed again, but still no joy.

    Most odd.
  • This is the point - it is still connected - it's just not showing in the GCM app.

Relax. Check it in the web version of GarminConnect and step away...
  • lol
    Stepping away....

I don't have my Fenix on today so can't try syncing again, but it's not showing my run last night on the GC website either

    I'll investigate again tonight :)
  • That could be a corrupted FIT file. It happens from time to time. There are people on this forum (typically you'll find them in one of the Cycling "Edge" forums where there are long-running threads) who can usually recover broken files.

The Strava sync works from the data in GarminConnect.com (so to get to Strava, it first has to get to GarminConnect.com)
  • Cheers Hunny!

I'm not overly fussed, as it was hardly a recordbreaking run! ;)
I just found it curious that on top of 'Strava-gate' it also wasn't syncing the run :D

    Hi Craig

No, I've not used Live Segments before, I just wanted to sync my activities to Strava :)

In addition, I'm unable to connect to Garmin Connect via the Strava website itself.
I disconnected from GC on the Strava website, but attempting to reconnect doesn't work. It just freezes.

The Strava link will NOT show up under the 3rd party connections. Since the connection is initiated from the Strava side with GC. From GCM, there is no way to initiate the connection or disconnect from Strava, so it doesn't appear in the 3rd party connections, like MyFitnessPal.

The sync with Strava is from GC to Strava, not GCM to Strava. As long as your activity makes it to GC, and the GC/Strava connection is working, it will sync.
