Is there an Android app...

...that can upload to Garmin Connect?

My old Forerunner 305 will no longer upload data. Garmin support doesn't really know why but after none of the standard fixes or a reset seems to work, they are blaming "something broken" inside the watch. And they no longer repair Forerunner 305's.

Now, since like many others in today's connected world, I have a highly capable Android phone (Nexus 5 probably going to a 5X or 6P soon) with me at all times, I don't see why I would want to buy a new dedicated device just for my twice a week hikes.

So are there Android apps that can interface to Garmin Connect, eliminating the need for another separate [expensive] tracking device?

Or if not interface to GC, then any recommended Android apps for tracking mixed hikes/jogging?

Thanks.
  • I use Wahoo Fitness which sends activities directly to Connect and other web sites. It's free, uses GPS, and will connect with HRMs, etc.

I use my Forerunner 305 for cycling and Wahoo Fitness for walks. The only downside with Wahoo Fitness is that it doesn't have auto-pause like the Forerunner.
