Do I need both earth mate and messenger for inreach explorer +?

I am trying to streamline and I want to eliminate one of the two apps on my iphone. Which one goes.... Garmin Messenger or Garmin Earthmate? My main use is for text messaging my hiking mate who uses the Mini 2.

Hello, if you have an explorer, SE, explorer+, SE+, or inreach mini you would be using the earthmate app only.
